editing

I take on select editing projects at the developmental, draft, revision, and copyedit stage. If you have an essay, manuscript, short story, or something in the middle, and it’s the point at which you’d benefit from having another set of eyes on your work, tell me more.

Editing values
  • author authority: The writer knows their own work best, and is the expert on their vision for the final product. An editor’s job is to help the author meet that vision, not change it.
  • confidentiality: Giving work to an editor is a huge leap of faith and must be honored. That work will stay between the editor and the writer.
  • benefit of the doubt: The editor works on the assumption that the writer’s intentions are not malicious or offensive. The editor assumes that missteps are in good faith.
  • constructive criticism: When the editor flags issues in the text at any stage, they also provide solutions for addressing the issue in future drafts.
